So This Is Love

Love is definitely in the air at Walt Disney World. Whether it's Mickey and Minnie, Donald and Daisy or Lady and the Tramp, Disney has the market on the some of the best love stories. I think that's why the idea of getting married on property or going on your honeymoon or anniversary is so appealing. I've said it before and I will repeat myself over again, Disney is NOT just for kids. But what kind of experiences make Disney so romantic? Let's get started!

Take a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride. Relax and enjoy the scenic Sassagoula River at Port Orleans Riverside or travel through the pine and cyprus trees at Fort Wilderness. Each ride is about 25 minutes and reservations are required. Pricing is $55. Holiday sleigh rides are also available at the The Cabins and Campsites at the Fort Wilderness Resort in December for $84.00.

The way to my heart is through my sweet tooth, so nothing makes me happier than a Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace at the Magic Kingdom or Rivers of Light Dessert Package at Animal Kingdom with the bonus of reserved seating for the fireworks or Rivers of Light show. Enjoy savory snacks like egg rolls and spinach dip, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and outstanding desserts like chocolate-covered strawberries, character-themed cupcakes, ice cream and s'mores. What could be more romantic? Pricing for Magic Kingdom is $84 per person and $79 for Animal Kingdom.

Romance doesn't have to cost a thing. It can just be about enjoying each other's company and a great way to do that is to pull up a chair and watch a movie under the stars. Each night the resorts offer a free movie, weather permitting. Snuggle up and enjoy!

Disney offers special in-room celebrations that can add a little touch of romance to your room. I recently ordered a toasting package to a special couple celebrating a wedding anniversary. You can choose from several different wine options and it comes with two souvenir glasses for toasting. There are different experiences based on your price point. One of favorites is the Grand Disney Spa Collection, which includes a soft robe, exclusive Mickey Mouse icon towel and spa products including body lotion, hand soap, shea butter balm and lip balm. It is delivered in a cloth basket. Personalization is also available.

If adventures are more your speed, rent a canoe or kayak and spend a few hours exploring The Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake. There are also fishing excursions for 2-4 hours or dockside fishing at Port Orleans Riverside. All gear is available for rent and all fishing is catch and release.

I am a HUGE football fan, so romance for me is not just about candy and flowers, although I love them too. Every Sunday from September 8 - November 17 take part in a 45 minute party where you will get 3 sample-sized food items and beverages inspired by the cities of the teams playing in the Monday night game that week. You will even learn from the chefs how to make the food when you get back home. This limited-time event will be a the World ShowPlace Events Pavilion between United Kingdom and Canada in EPCOT. The cost is $19 per person plus tax. I literally can barely write about this because I am so excited. I think it is totally worth every penny.

I would love to hear from you. What is your most romantic memory of Walt Disney World? Did you get engaged or married there? Please comment and share!
